Noah Baumbach's "Greenberg" is only 107 minutes long, but it seems to go on forever. The first 30 minutes are hilarious, but then the film starts repeating itself -- over and over and over. The lead character (played by Ben Stiller) is a brilliant creation, but Baumbach didn't come up with a compelling story to build around the character. After a half-hour of watching his quirkiness and irascibility, the novelty wears off. I kept waiting for Act 2 to begin, and it never did.

What did you think of Margot at Wedding?
I didn't love 'Margot at the Wedding," but I did find it interesting and engaging. I preferred Baumbach's previous film, "Squid and the Whale," which I thought was much more brutal and sharp. I think 'Squid' will probably go down in history as Baumbach's best film.
It seems he's losing his creative power, which is sad. I thought he was going to turn into another Scorcese, but it looks like that is not going to happen. In each film since 'Squid,' Baumbach gets weaker, in my opinion.
